What is Distance Education / Learning?
Distance Education is mode of imparting knowledge or education through distance mode.
As a word “Distance” suggests the students or any knowledge seeker doesn’t need to be present in physical classroom as required in tradition education.

What is difference between Correspondence or Open education and Online Distance education?
Correspondence Education or Open Education is a traditional way of providing education to the students under which the university provides very limited resources in the form of study material. Whereas Online Distance Education is the most advanced way of providing education to the students under which the university provides dedicated LMS (Learning Management System) to the students where student can access Live Online Lectures, Recorded Lectures, Online Study Material, Digital Library and even interact with the University Instructor.
In India there are very few universities who are offering Online Distance Education, because offering Online Distance Education requires lots of resources and most of the universities in India don’t have such resources. So it is better for the student to select such universities who are offering Distance Education in Online Mode.
What is difference between MBA and PGDBA?
MBA : Stands for Master of Business Administration.
PGDBA : Stands for Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration.
Many times students are confused between PGDBA and MBA while applying for post graduation degree (master degree) it’s important for you to know the difference between MBA and PGBDA.
MBA is offered by the Universities recognized by UGC and AICTE whereas PGDBA is offered by the autonomous institution recognized by AICTE as institute need only AICTE approval for offering their management courses, in India as per the norms of UGC only the recognized University can offer the master degree no autonomous institute can offer master degree, an autonomous Institute can only offer post graduate diploma.
But yet the questions remains that ,”As a student what is more valuable for me? ”
If you are looking for a job in MNC and big corporate companies or even private companies then you should choose MBA over PGDBA, because MBA is definitely better than PGDBA both in terms of Industry reorganization and job prospects, PGDBA are only worth pursuing if they are offered by reputed top level institute like IIM, JBIMS and IIFT etc in regular mode.
Further you can purse PhD if you are having MBA degree through distance education or traditional education but you can’t purse PhD if you are having PGDBA from autonomous institute through distance education.

What is mean by UGC Approved University?
UGC stands for University Grant Commission in India UGC was first formed in 1945 latter in 1956 UGC become statutory body upon passing of “University Grant Commission Act, 1956 “ by the Indian Parliament.
As per the norms of Indian education system it’s mandatory for all the universities and higher education institutions to take approval from UGC before offering any degree courses and even before claiming itself as university ,No University can offer any degree until and unless it’s not approved by UGC, if any university or institution starts offering degree courses without prior approval from UGC then such a university is labelled as “Fake University” and degree offered by them or degree taken from such a university stand to be invalid and further not applicable for the jobs in government and private sectors.
In recent times UGC has declared number of fake universities offering fake degrees.
You should always check the UGC approval status of University before taking admission into any university.

What does AICTE mean?
AICTE stands for All India Council for Technical Education.
AICTE is council who gives approval for all technical and engineering degrees courses like MBA, MCA , BCA , B.Tech and M.Tech etc to all the technical and engineering degree without the prior approval from AICTE no University and autonomous institutions can offer any engineering or management related courses to students either through traditional classroom education or through distance education.
As per the new norms of UGC all the university offering any engineering or any technical education must get prior approval from AICTE, if any autonomous institute or university doesn’t have AICTE approval yet offering any such related degrees to students then such a degree stands to remain invalid and consequence to this such a degree holder can’t apply for government jobs, private jobs ,further one can’t apply for higher education like PhD, even such a degree holders might face difficulty in visa and jobs in abroad.
AICTE approval is mandatory for University or autonomous institute offering technical and engineering programs either through traditional education mode or distance education mode its mandatory for both the modes.
Note any engineering degrees (B.Tech or M.Tech) can’t be offered in distance mode as per the norms of UGC, AICTE.
Students must check the approval of AICTE before applying for the admission.

Which are the courses that can be done through distance education?
There are wide ranges of courses that can be taken through distance education ranging from Certificate to Masters Degree like MBA ,MCA ,MCom ,MSc ,M.A ,BCom, BBA ,BCA, BSc, B.A, etc can be done through distance education.

However there are several course that can’t be offered through distance education as per the norms of UGC like Engineering Courses , Medical ,Par Medical ,Pharmacy courses like M.Pharm, B.Pharm etc such courses can be strictly done through regular mode of education if any institution or university is offering any such courses through distance mode then such university or institution is violating the norms of UGC. In such cases the recongnization of such universities or institution can be cancel or university can even get black listed by UGC and further the degree awarded by such university remains invalid.
How worth is Online distance education?

Eligibility criteria for getting admission in distance education courses?
The eligibility criteria for pursuing any courses through distance education depends upon the type of course, UGC norms, respective councils norms and university norms for example if you want to pursue MBA through distance education you must have minimum 3 years graduation degree from UGC recognized university either through distance or regular mode.
Do all the Universities in India offer degree through distance mode?
No, All the Universities in India can’t offer their courses through distance mode.
In India there are 700 + Universities but as of October 2018 only 70 UGC approved Universities can offer their degree through distance mode , UGC allows only those universities who can fulfil the norms set by UGC and respective council to provide a degree through distance education.
Can I purse engineering degree through Distance Education?
No, as per UGC , MHRD notification no engineering courses like B.E,M.E, B.Tech,M.Tech and Polytechnic Diplomas can’t be pursued through distance education ,MHRD notification 2013 “Any engineering degree awarded by any university or institution’s through distance mode stands to be invalid ”.
There are several university and institution’s in India offering engineering courses through distance mode number of students are cheated in the name of engineering degree through distance mode and their precious time and money of students are wasted , there are various news published daily in newspapers and fake institution’s websites for the offering of engineering degree through distance mode.
Do my degree pursued through distance mode holds the same value as regular mode?
Yes, the degree pursued through distance mode of education has same value as regular mode of education.
The government of India MHRD has given a very clear notice in regards to this aspect, MHRD has circulated a notice on validity of degree through distance mode and has mentioned “The degree pursued or awarded through distance mode of education will have the same as degree taken through regular mode of education” further the degree pursued through distance mode will be considered for jobs in government departments it means any who has pursued a degree from distance education mode can apply for government jobs
